Thanks for your support, stay tuned for more Marksman info as it becomes available Rob UPDATE: All Marksman parts have been moved to the parts page. You can find the parts quickly by visiting the parts page, then selecting Marksman in the Current Vehicles list Hey guys. Redcat just did a Facebook live about the new Marksman and it looks awesome!
When reviewing the specs and limited info available, I made some assumptions about the truck that were correct but I underestimated how large the Marksman is going to be. I questioned Redcat calling the Marksman 1/8 scale but now, I think they were correct in calling it 1/8 scale and not 1/10. Check out the size comparison with the Gen8 at the 30 minute mark of the video to see what I'm talking about. The Marksman is big It's cool to see that the Marksman will come with a few scale accessories, three-piece beadlock wheels and the Hobbywing ESC program box as well Stay tuned for more Marksman info as it becomes available Rob I just had another close look at the Marksman parts diagram and noticed that the rear lower links and driveshafts are also unique to the Marksman. I'm assuming these will be longer than the Wendigo units due to the Marksman's longer wheelbase. Once all of the Marksman parts are available I'll be able to confirm this but I'm pretty sure my assumption is correct
Stay tuned for more Marksman updates as they become available Rob Here's a closer look at the new Redcat Marksman's body if you are interested. Other than the headlight lenses and driver figure borrowed from the Wendigo, every other part appears to be unique to the Marksman.
I couple of cool features I notice are the windshield wipers and the LED light buckets for the front headlights. I would like to see more LED light locations, some door handles and perhaps a painted driver's head but other than that, it looks pretty good. Another unique feature that is easily missed is that the Marksman is painted with a different color of paint on the inside and outside of the body shell. This technique provides an interesting effect when grinding through rocky canyons. As the outer green layer of paint is scraped away, a rusty metal looking color is revealed beneath. This adds even more realism and excitement to the TC8-Marksman driving experience. Personally, I'm not sure if I like this idea but maybe it'll look cool...only time will tell. That's all for now, stay tuned for more Marksman updates as they become available Rob The instruction manual and parts diagram is now available for the upcoming Redcat Marksman. I've added a link to the "Resources" tab on the Marksman vehicle page as well as on the Parts Diagrams and Manuals pages if you'd like to have a look
As expected, the Marksman chassis is 95% Wendigo. It will share the same chassis, axles, transmission, transfer case, shock mounts etc with the Wendigo but will come with the Hobbywing WP 1080 crawler ESC and Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster motor as mentioned earler. It looks like the floorpans, rock sliders, inner fenders, body posts and bumpers will all be unique to the Marksman but most other parts are standard Wendigo / Gen8 fair. I think this is great news as all of the existing Wendigo aluminum upgrade parts should fit on the Marksman and if you already own a Gen8 or Wendigo, you may have some spares in your field bag already I'll post more Marksman info once I have it so be sure to check back again soon Rob I'm still waiting on an instruction manual and parts list to be release for the upcoming Marksman but from what I can tell from this photo, the chassis, transmission, transfer case, axles, shocks battery tray, receiver box etc all seam to be Gen8 and Wendigo components
Based on this assumption, I've started to update the Marksman parts pages to include Wendigo parts and upgrades. I'll fine tune everything once I receive more information from Redcat but for now, let's assume I'm correct in that the Marksman will be compatible with the majority of Wendigo and Gen8 parts Stay tuned for more Marksman updates as they become available Rob UPDATE: All Marksman parts and upgrades are now available on the parts page. To find them quickly, visit the parts page then select Marksman in the Current Vehicles list Redcat hasn't released a parts list or manual for the upcoming Marksman yet but, from the information and pictures currently available, it looks like the Marksman will utilize the XR247 axles from the Wendigo. These axles have proven to be very durable in the Wendigo and, aluminum upgrades are already available if you want to take your Marksman to the next level. Once I have 100% confirmation of this (I'm sure I'm correct), I'll start to add the axles, parts and aluminum upgrades to the Marksman parts page if you'd like to order them in advance of the trucks arriving. Stay tuned for more Marksman details as they become available Rob While we wait to get the new Marksman in our hands, I thought you may find this size comparison information interesting. The Marksman is being advertised as 1/8 scale while the Wendigo is 1/10. When we look closely at the dimensions though, you can see the Marksman is actually slightly narrower and only a few mm taller than the Wendigo. The biggest size difference between the two vehicles is in the wheelbase and total length. The longer wheelbase of the Marksman gives it a much more realistic scale appearance than the Wendigo (in my opinion) 'till next time
Rob Surprise! I knew something was in the works but I didn't see this one coming!!! Redcat just announced the new 1/8 Scale Marksman TC8 Trail Crawler and it looks awesome! I'll have full information available very soon but for now, I can tell you that the Marksman will come ready-to-run and will include a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster 12T brushed motor and Hobbywing WP-1080 ESC, 2.2" wheels and tires, and the XR247 axles from the Wendigo
The Marksman appears to combine some of the best parts from the Gen8 and Wendigo into this new trail truck / crawler package. I'd like to say this is what the Wendigo should have been in the first place but I won't : ) Stay tuned for more info and if you haven't done so already, be sure to sign up for the email newsletter as I'll be sending out an email as soon as the Marksman is available to order Rob The ONE Must Have Item You Need for Working on your Vehicles Plus a Couple of Other Goodies9/14/2020
Having been into RC for over 35 years now (gulp), I've made just about every mistake a guy can. One of my mistakes was not investing in quality tools for wrenching on my cars. I invested in "good" tools two years ago and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. If I could go back in time, and talk to a younger me, I'd tell myself to buy MIP tools and nothing else. That's the message I'm sharing with you today as well. I can hear you now..."but Rob, MIP tools are expensive...I can buy a complete set of tools from China for the cost of just one MIP." If you are thinking this, don't forget to consider the cost of replacing those cheap tools - the MIP tools will last much much longer. More importantly, using high quality tools will dramatically reduce the risk of stripping screws. Just think of how much time, frustration and expense you'll save if you ever strip a screw and have to cut it out. Trust me, that's a pain in the butt that you don't want to have to deal with. Here's the good news, you don't need very many tools. If you are on a budget, this is the only one you need: A 2.0mm Hex Driver will cover 90% of your wrenching needs and will only cost you around $20. If money is an issue, just get this one and you'll be in good shape. Do not buy a ball end driver - just get the regular 2.0mm driver (part #9008) If you have a little more money, you may want to consider buying a 1.5mm and a 2.5mm hex driver as well. The 1.5mm comes in handy for small set screws such as those on pinion gears and for some of the trim pieces on the Gen8 body. The 2.5mm will be used once in a while on larger screws (My TR-SC10e only had two screws on the chassis that required this driver). These are available individually but you'll save some money if you buy the complete set. Again, don't buy ball end drivers...just get the regular hex drivers. These will cover 99% of your wrenching needs. But, if you are anything like me, you may want to fill out your toolbox with a few rarely used but very handy tools as well such as a 2.0mm Ball End Hex Driver. A ball end driver comes in handy if you have a difficult to reach screw (usually on lower shock mount or servo horn). The ball end allows you to access the screw from a slight angle. I don't recommend using a ball end driver unless it is absolutely necessary as your chances of stripping the screw increase. A few other nice to have tools but not really required include: I use my nut drivers all of the time and I'm very happy with them but truthfully, cheap nut drivers work fine. I just like everything to match and I like how the MIP handles feel in my hand. I paid around $20 for my power driver and I REALLY like it. It saves a lot of time when wrenching on my vehicles but, you have to be extra careful to not scrip screws. I like to use mine to drive the screw in 95% of the way and then finish it off by twisting the screwdriver manually. So, to recap, if you are on a budget, just grab yourself and MIP 2.0mm Hex Driver. If you have a little extra cash, go for the set that includes the 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm Hex Drivers. After that, you really don't need anything but the power driver and 2.0mm speed tip is a time saver. Everything else is just a bonus.

I decided to stagger the bars to match the slope of my ceiling and also to clear the printer but you can easily create one long rod if that works better for you. To complete the project, I used:
This will easily store four 1/10 scale RC cars or trucks. It was a simple project, I hope you like it.
